Even non-sailors should go on a sailing holiday

Updated: Jan 14

Sailing has always been associated with upper classes, wealth, luxury and exclusivity. That is no longer the case and here are the reasons why you should go on a sailing holiday with family, friends or both, even if you are not sailors.

Unforgettable times with family and friends

There is nothing like a feeling of freedom to explore as many places as you choose without packing and unpacking, dragging your luggage from one hotel to another, replacing your phone charger which you lost somewhere along the way,... That all sounds familiar, doesn't it?

A sailing holiday offers every choice imaginable - company or solitude and privacy, hustle and bustle of popular resorts or relaxation and quietness of secluded scenic bays and coves, multitude of water activities and an incredible adventure to talk about for a long, long time.

There is no fighting over sun loungers, being woken up by the hotel neighbors slamming doors and shouting at 7am. Your yacht is your sun lounger and the sea is your private swimming pool.

Chartering a yacht for a sailing holiday is a lot more affordable than most people think. Even smaller yachts can accommodate eight to ten cost sharing passengers. On top of that, it offers a truly unique and luxurious experience.

Most yachts can be chartered fully crewed. Professionally trained and experienced crew put your mind at ease and enhance your holiday by sharing their local knowledge with you and your party. Local crew know all the spots tourists don't know about. They will also cater to your every need. Should you splash out on a hostess as well as a skipper, you will enjoy freshly cooked meals made from locally grown produce and she may agree to do a bit of baby sitting if you wish to have a couple of child-free cocktails ashore.

If you are, however, interested in trying something new and learning a little bit about sailing, your crew would be more than happy to show you the ropes and involve you. Sailing holidays are also the perfect place to try your hand at jet skiing, diving, snorkeling and more.

That doesn't mean that you have to spend all your time being active. Sailing holidays can be tailored exactly to your needs, with as much or as little activity as you like. If all you want to do is work on your tan taking only short breaks for a swim, that is fine. Your companions may prefer a bit more action, in which case we can arrange water sports and activities, from snorkeling to fishing, kayaking and windsurfing. Anything you say goes!

Scuba diving

Holidaying on a yacht is like no other holiday experience. You get to see places from a different perspective and take in a vast amount of scenery that you wouldn't necessarily see otherwise. You are highly likely to meet some fascinating people - those who live aboard their boats and travel the world's oceans freely, making friends and gathering stories to tell.
